Our Groups Timing Schedule/ Lighting
For one of the shots in our horror shots, we had to take a picture on a phone in order for it to be used throughout the film. For the picture too look clear enough, we had to do this before half four. This is because it got dark then and to make the picture as best we could, we had to make sure it was light and for the audience to work out where the photo was taken.
Our shots that took place outside were filmed in the dark, this was so we could create tension and a creepy atmosphere, this also is a big horror convention. This means that we had to do the shots in the evening, so we could get the lighting right.
We had to organise a lot between our group and our extra who was acting within the film. This is because we weren't all available on the same days, so we had to organise who could get to the location and when depending on who we needed for each shot. We had to arrive at the scene at around 4pm so we had time to set things up before it got dark and so we had enough time to get the shots we wanted to do done. We decided to film on Thursdays and Sundays as that's when we were all avaliable to film. Some members of the group that were also free on different days did practise without the actual actors. This was done so when it came to filming the final product we knew what were doing and exactly how we were going to do it.
We chose to film most of our shots but not all of them at night as this would create more tension in the scene and it follows the typical horror setting. Our opening sequence is based on paranormal and in most Paranormal films if not all are filmed at night, especially when the scary things are happening to them. We believe that this will make it more scary and it will keep the audience tense and on the edge of thier seat.

This is an example of successful lighting in the film 'Sinister'. It shows light on the main focus which is the mans face and the projector, these are clearly visible. However, we know its night time due to the darkness in the background and down the hall. These are also dark as it does not want you to be focused on anything else other than the main focuses. There is a bit of clever lighting in this shot also as you can see the reflection of light in his glasses coming from the projector, this just demonstrates what hes looking at. RG

We chose to take this picture in while it was still light as the audience can easily distinguish that the killer is behind the bush. If we took this picture when it was dark then the audience would not see the figure and this would not be as tense and as scary. The figure behind the bush must be seen to add tension to the opening sequence and this will ultimately make the audience feel uncomfortable as this shot is unnatural and the killer is clearly seen due to the lighting of the shot. The trees are also seen in the shot due to the lighting and this again creates tension and it also adds an eary atmosphere to this particular scene in our opening sequence. LB
