The KitchenWe chose to film some of our shots in the Kitchen as it will provide tension for the audience watching on.
It will create tension as Hannah to victim will be in the safety of her own home so no-one will expect that the killer will scare when she is in the Kitchen. In the Kitchen there is a fridge and we could of used the iconic fridge shot to build up the suspense, however we chose to do this scene in the Garage instead. There are knifes in thre Kitchen which symbolises deah and this will keep the audience watching and on the edge of their seats. There is a big open window in the kitchen where you can see the whole garden and we are basing the "picture shot" on this and this is the main poit of our opening sequence as this could be the moment of realisation. We were going to film Ricky the "useleless" boyfriend dye in the kitchen but after a lot of consideration we chose to film his shots in the Garage. LB The GarageWe chose to film the death of Ricky in the Garage as it is secluded from the rest of the house. This means that both the characters Ricky and Hannah will be vulnerable as they will both be on their own with no help.
Inside the Garage there are many different tools and peices of equipment which symbolise death once again and this adds tension. There is an iconic shot of the killer in the window where you can see the saw also dangling from the window. This will scare our audiences and also add tension within the scene. In the Garage we still have the iconic fridge shot which will create suspense and ultimatley create a lot of tension within the scene and with the audience. The Garage seems like a safe place to go and "get some drinks" but it turns out to be very dark and creates a very sisister atmosphere. LB We have chosen this because of wes Cravens theory that bad things happen in safe places. Wes Craven is very successful so our inspiration comes from him. We believe that our product would sell much better using this theory as Wes Craven used it and he was very succesful.
We also used another Wes Craven theory that abscence of Parents is not good for the victim in a Horror film. This adds tension as no-one is home apart from the vulnerable victim and the weak boyfriend who is hopeless in all Horror Films. LB |
